Staircase Spindles & Newel Posts
Hand-turned spindles and matching newel posts in Oak, Walnut, Sapele or any timber of your choice. Bespoke sizes, classical patterns, regulation-aware.
ExploreEach spindle is hand-turned by Daniel Fitzpatrick himself, on traditional lathes in a small Honley workshop — the same craft passed down for generations, quietly kept alive.
From a single replacement piece for a Victorian terrace to four hundred matched balusters for a Knightsbridge restoration, every turning leaves the same workshop, by the same hands.

For the trade
Six things we promise every trade order, regardless of size.
Sketches, photographs or measured drawings — we work to whatever you can give us, in any wood or design of your choice.
Replacement spindles and pilasters turned to match existing work. Send a sample or a photograph and we’ll cut to suit.
UK-wide delivery on every order. For urgent jobs, spindles can often be manufactured and delivered within a matter of days.
A small family workshop — friendly, approachable, knowledgeable. You speak to the maker, not an account manager.
Top-of-the-line kiln-dried timber — Pine, Oak, Beech, Maple, Sapele, Cherry — brushed and hand-sanded to a fine finish.
In the trade since 1995. Honest lead times, flagged early if anything shifts, and a standard that doesn’t move.
A pencil drawing on the back of an envelope is enough. A photograph of an existing profile is enough. We'll read it, draw the cutter, and turn the first sample for your approval before any volume work begins.
For matching jobs we can also visit to look at the existing woodwork in person, to make sure we match it perfectly.
